The
WINPLUMB program handles the communication
between
the laser transducer and computer so that the
user
does not need to manually record readings. The
accurate
compensation for vibration is a software
engineering
feature that makes the PERMAPLUMB
effective.
WINPLUMB can be configured for up to 2 radial
or
guide bearings, and a thrust bearing (3 to 12 pads). The
result
screen will show the angle of the shaft from plumb in
2
planes 90° apart. In addition, it will show the correction at
each
bearing or thrust pad in both planes. The thrust pad
corrections
can be displayed "all pad moves up" (shim
type)
or "all pad moves up and down" (adjustment screw
type).
WINPLUMB features a "MOVE" function that
displays
changes to the centerline plumbness while you
make
corrections. In essence, using WINPLUMB it is now
possible
to simply move the shaft (by adjusting either pads
or
guides) until the display shows zero. At that point the
centerline
will be plumb. WINPLUMB also contains
functions
for evaluating rigidity across a vertical shaft
coupling.
It is also useful for monitoring changes to
plumbness,
while balancing the load on the thrust pads.
